Secure Computing At Swinburne University

Date:

7 January 2011

Message:

While ITS implements a number of measures to maintain the security of the Swinburne network, these can often be bypassed if individual staff members give out their passwords. Regardless of how good or convincing an email sounds, Swinburne users should never tell someone else their passwords - not even to ITS or the Service Desk.

Do Not Be Tricked

No matter who asks, or for what ever reason - DO NOT give out your password EVER.

GroupWise 8 Service Pack 2 HP2 Client Downloads

GroupWise 8 has now been updated to service pack 2. In addition to fixing a number of security vulnerabilities, service pack 2 addresses a number of other bugs/issues and has improved WebAccess functionality with the introduction of date range and category filters for the Find feature. You can download and install the updated GroupWise 8 Windows, Mac and Linux clients for use on campus from the links below.

(Use of these clients at home or outside of the Swinburne network requires VPN access)

  • Windows Executable

    Download Windows Client

When you run this installer, it will connect back to our webserver and download more components. Once downloaded the progress bar will go away while the install is prepared. This may take a few minutes so please be patient.

  • Mac (Intel)

    Download Mac OS Client (10.4/10.5)

Once downloaded, double click the .dmg file to mount the Groupwise disk. Open the Groupwise disk and drag the Groupwise icon to your Applications folder. Once copied you can safely unmount the Groupwise disk.

  • Linux

    Download Linux Client

Once you have downloaded the tar.gz file, you will need to extract the file and run ./install from the root of the extracted folder. Alternatively you can manually install the RPM's.
